FAQ

What airline do you work for?

I currently fly for a regional airline in the United States. Which airline in particular isn’t important as most regional airlines operate the same way. I have many friends at other regional airlines so I am able to give a broad overview of the industry.

Why are you so secretive about which airline you work for?

Just one of the things I have to do in order to be able to have a blog and have a job. Many people have lost their jobs due to things said in a blog. I do my best to not put my employer in a bad light. For a recent story about someone fired for blogging…click here.

I am XX years old, is it too late to go to the airlines?

I started flight training when I was 29 and was hired by an airline at 30. In my hiring class there were pilots as young as 21 and as old as 52. The FAA recently raised the retirement age to 65. Deciding if it’s too late is up to you.

Do pilots really make $250,000 a year and only work 9 days a month?

A very small (and shrinking) number of pilots have that lifestyle. The majority of pilots earn much less and work much more.
